A new toy!

I ordered the 50mm 1.8 lens last week after reading so many great reviews on it. I took a few photos and fell in love! The focus is phenomenal! Why didnt I add this to the arsenal sooner?!

Unfortunately the UPS guy dropped it off when it was close to dark out, so I quickly shot the cherry blossoms that just started blooming out front. More photos to come from an engagement session I have this weekend!

Oh, and now with the new blog you will be seeing massive photos like this one from now on. Looks like a watercolor painting to me:

Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book of Wedding Vendors

We’re so excited to be picked as one of Style Me Pretty’s prefered vendors of the Napa area! If you haven’t come across their blog before its a must see for any bride planning a wedding… or anyone looking for inspiration for that matter! Editor Abby Larson and her assistant talk to local wedding vendors and planners and help narrow down the pool of vendors for each category. Then websites are reviewed, interviews and referral checks take place. She wants her readers to trust in her choice of high end vendors for each category. And I have to thank Jessamyn Harris and Lisa & James Sanders, all amazing local photographers for referring me!

Take me to the little black book of wedding vendors!

We’re excited to announce we had several photos from last year published in the most recent issue of La Bella Bride Magazine Dhivya and Jay’s wedding from last August was also featured as a love story (seen below)

Kelly, Ramiro and Chemistry

This Saturday I met up with Kelly and Ramiro in San Francisco to photograph their engagement. Its funny, Kelly was a little concerned about being photographed… I promised them it would be a breeze. Little did I know how much chemistry the two of them have! Ramiro knows exactly what to say to make Kelly smile and laugh. I knew it was going to be fun to shoot as soon as Ramiro mimicked the Victoria’s Secret window display!

We started in downtown, then headed to the beach. Neither of us had ever been to the Sutro Baths so we decided to do a little exploring. We made it down there just in time for the sunset!

I cant wait to photograph their wedding at Hans Fahden in May! Their having a live Salsa band and their reception in a wine cave!

Ramiro is sexy:

Isn’t she smokin!?

I love this shot!

Alabama Hills

Yesterday we drove south to Lone Pine. The last time I was in Lone Pine was 5 years ago and my car broke down. I was stuck in this town (population 1600!) for two days! Luckily for me the Alabama Hills were in walking distance. The hills are actually massive boulders piled on top of each other. If you’re driving up the 395 you would never know the formations are behind the town.

I finally had the chance to take the Edge offroading. She handled beautifully! So of course I had to take a few car shots!

Ill be back in town tomorrow. Until then my cell reception is lost in a black hole. Email is best.

This last shot was taken looking towards Mammoth Mountain on the way home. No tripod or anything, this shot was stitched together in photoshop afterwards. Its actually 11 photos in one. I love the colors.

Got Snow?

The past few days I’ve been up in Mammoth visiting Matt. Last week was our one year anniversary…. so since we were apart we’re celebrating our anniversary and Valentines day all in one weekend!

On Thursday we took a hike around Lake Mary. For those of you familiar with Mammoth, after the first snowfall the road to the lake is closed. So we had to hike maybe a mile in the snow to get to the lake…. and honestly by the time we got there I was ready to throw in the towel!!! The snow was so deep all of the street signs were completely covered…. hence the title of my post.

We took a break and I unknowingly sat down on a picnic bench covered in bird seed. Needless to say I was swarmed by these little birds! Matt took out his sandwich, tore off a piece of bread and the little winter finches ate directly out of his hand.

We finally got back to the car four hours with just a little bit of light left. That hike was up there with the hike up Mount Washington!
