Michael and Mara’s Wedding

Fun Fact: Mara and Michael are good friends of Dhivya and Jay, who you may remember from last year!

Most Memorable Moment: The Lion Dance!

I think Michael and Mara picked one of the cutest churches to get married in! The Church of Nativity inĀ  Menlo Park is something out of a movie. Set on beautifully landscaped lawns it made the perfect setting for Mara and Michael to exchange vows. After the ceremony took place, they wanted to create a special portrait of both families in front of the church, its not too often that a family of 70 + flys in from around the world!

After the portrait we left the church to head to The Saint Claire Hotel, a little gem of a hotel in downtown San Jose. Michael and Mara put so many special touches on their wedding day to make sure their guests felt welcomed. They both personally thanked everyone who traveled from afar, with special recognition at the begining of the reception. Then, they prepared a slide show of the past years they have been together.

Just when we thought the dancing would start, another form of dance started! Two lions danced in the room with drums as their beat. They performed a 20 minute captivating show for their guests. Ok, so the Lion Dance is just beautiful to witness, but have you ever tried to take pictures of them and try to get cool angles? Um, slightly intimidating!! My heart was racing the whole time as I thought one of them might fall on me!!! I know, they are trained professionals, but still! lol!

Michael and Mara: I had an awesome time with you both. Thank you for inviting me into your lives, you are truly beautiful inside and out and I wish only the best for you two.

Mara, looking stunning…

I love the color palette she chose. And the bridesmaid dresses look platinum when turned to black and white!

Two angles, same moment…

mmm, yummy light and not at sunset!

Ok, these guys were awesome…. they danced halfway hunched over for 20 minutes straight! For those of you who have never witnessed a Lion dance before there are two people to each lion, the back person, being hunched over holding onto the front person all while doing dances and stunts like jumping on this platform… all while taking on the characteristics of a lion!
