Since it’s starting to get pretty chilly out here in New England, I thought it would be fun to warm things up with a fun shoot from this summer in Southampton. What a sweet family and fun shoot! Though it’s fun gearing up for the holidays, it’s easy to miss the sand in your toes…

My lil man is a year old today

I would never have believed we would make it this far! Or that I would love him so much. The sleepness nights mean nothing when he laughs, smiles and says mamma or da da. He has made me slow down yet speed up at the same time if that makes any sense. He’s taught me patience ( on most days ) and to love unconditionally and as much as it sounds cliche I am a better person because of it.

Here’s some “highlights” of Hunter’s first year. Thank you to Auntie Erica, Auntie Marita and Auntie Erica who took care of the photos when I was too tired to pick up the camera. And for the record… not all are shot with my “big camera” My lil point and shoot took A TON of these when I was too lazy to pull out the big guns. I have 67 gigs of photos from his first year. yikes!

What a great shoot! I had no idea what to expect when driving to West Hartford for an engagement shoot. Sarah and Eric took me downtown to a cute shopping area. We walked around and just hung out, having a great time taking photos. I love this couple, I love these pics, and I can’t wait for their wedding next year!

Newport, RI Yacht Engagement Session :|: Alicia & Michael

Ooo oo! So excited to blog about this finally! This shoot was so much fun. One of the I love most about photography and art for that matter is coming up with concepts. When Alicia and I were talking about ideas for her engagement shoot, she sent me a photo of the dress she planned on wearing. As soon as I saw, I immediately thought of a shoot I had seen in Vanity Fair magazine with Lindsey Lohan. Lindsay’s shoot was somewhere off the coast of Italy, but I was inspired to say the least. I was also inspired by vintage Newport and wanted to photograph my modern, fun couple in Jackie-O-esque manner. I thought of her big glasses, beautiful wooden boats you would see the Kennedy’s photographed in. I think everyone loves that era and it’s also something everyone loves about Newport. One thing to remember in doing shoots like this is that our couples are not always celebrities that come with their own fabulous team. Therefore, we felt it necessary to enlist some help. I am the photographer that makes things look beautiful, but sometimes I need help in styling, etc. so I can focus (no pun intended) on the photography. That’s where Kristin Love of Details With Love stepped in and styled the day. She introduced Alicia and I to the owner of Madeliene, the fantastic boat we shot on. We walked across the street to visit the girls at Wish, who loved the concept and lent the wonderful bag (sail tote) and the great sunglasses. The cuff, which I’m in love with and want…and comes in not just gold, was from Sequin. And of course Alicia nailed it with her Lilly Pullitzer dress and shoes. Alicia’s hair and makeup, inspired by the Vanity Fair shoot but with more of a finger wave, was done by the great Alicia Danielle. The guys always have it easy; Michael looked great in his simple white button down and jeans. After the shoot, the whole team headed out for a cocktail to celebrate how well the shoot went and to have a few drinks together. We wish Alicia and Mike didn’t have to drive home; we could have stayed for hours and my babysitter would have assumed I was still on the shoot, not having cocktails with my fabulous bride-and-groom-to-be! Thank you Alicia and Mike, this was so much fun!

The setting was Gooseberry beach Newport, RI. I love this beach! We actually hold a pass to it in the summer which allows me to go in and shoot there. It’s intimate and the backdrop is very Newport. In fact, there was a movie shot here in one of the surrounding mansions called Evening starring Claire Danes. I love everything about this small beach; especially the old wooden life guard chairs and the tall, grassy dunes. The two are getting married at Ocean Cliff this year. I can’t wait!

Its Been A Year!

I can’t believe today is our one year wedding anniversary!

Matt did a kick ass job on his present for me: and old film canister with the film reel filled with little pieces of paper that said all the reasons why he loved me. Written on cupcake paper. I started crying of course! He doesnt get his present until next Monday when we go on our mini trip. stay tuned!

Happy Fouth of July

The past few days Matt’s brother and girlfriend were in town. We spent a few days camping up in Humboldt and then came back to spend fourth of July in San Francisco. After eating a DELICIOUS dinner at Sotto Mare in North Beach we walked outside and were greeted with fireworks in an alleyway. What a sight:

Little Goslings

The past three weeks Matt and I have been watching the nest of the resident momma goose. (Matt has affectionately named her Helen) The eggs finally hatched today! So far we can count 4… but we think there is another hiding in the very front of the nest. Too cute!

Update: May 2nd. It looks like 2 eggs didnt hatch and mamma goose has abandoned the nest to start a new one across the pond. So sad. But the four little ones are too cute. Its crazy to watch instinct take over between the mother goose and the father goose. The dad hung around and gaurded the nest from afar before the eggs hatched. Any other duck that got too close to their nest would have heck to pay for! Honking and feathers flying everywhere. (thank goodness for my 70-200 lens!) Dad goose didnt really pay any big attention to the actual nest before they hatched but was watching over very proud the day they were born (above photo) Now whereever they travel the babies are in the middle of both of them. And they are even more protective than ever!

Grand Opening Party

Ok, so I completely understand what all of my couples go through with planning their weddings. Its a bit stressful eh? When the day finally came I was overwhelmed (in a good way) with how everything came out. I want to thank everyone who made it, your presence and support mean so much to me!

Well you know how my job is to document things? Well that SO didnt happen! I was so busy making sure everything was going right.. and their were copious amounts of bubbly refreshments in peoples hands… that I forgot to take pictures! However we did have the photo booth………..which wouldnt you know, half of my guests didnt make it to! Its ok, I remember you were there! But heres what resulted from the booth:

Elaine and John, from Elaine Bell Catering, they brought a beautiful spread of food that blew me and my other guests away! Did I mention it was delicious?! Matt and I in a traditional prom pose and then Matt looking like a goof ball eating one of Elaine’s desserts. Jennifer the incredibly talented owner and designer of Lush Floral. I so lucky to get to work with her as often as I do!

David Lew, The friend I’ve known the longest in life: since the 1st grade! Sierra and Derrick, old high school friends and clients. Yes, we all went to school together…. can we say yearbook nerds!? Love you guys!

I love this photo Sierra took: we were mocking the “now smell your bouquet” bride portraits from the 80′s. The bouquet was a sweet gift from Joanne of Boutique Events. She even made sure to match the studio with a blue ribbon!

Rose Hyc, James and Lisa Sanders both photographers of the greater bay area. Matt and I being dorks. Then my sister Leanne and her family who trekked out from Lodi!
