Yountville Engagement Session | Olivia and Jeff

This might have been the FASTEST engagement session on record thanks to mother nature! I was set to meet Olivia and Jeff in St Helena for their engagement session. As I drove north on 29 the clouds were pitch black and and I could tell it was raining up there. I quickly called them to see if they left their hotel in Yountville yet. Plans quickly changed and I met them in Yountville instead to try to salvage their engagement session. All of these photos were taken between 9:03 – 9:27.  By 9:20 it was pouring so we took cover at the French Laundry for a few more photos. I think they rocked it out despite the cold, wind and rain. THANK YOU both for bearing the elements with me!

Check back soon for their wedding photos.

Villagio Inn Yountville Wedding Photography | Shelbie and Geo

Shelbie and Geo’s Wedding rocked because:

1. They celebrate monthaversaries. Never heard of this term before? Well its coined by Shelbie and Geo. They are so darn cute and in love that they celebrate their anniversary every month on the 25th. So their wedding date was on their 33rd monthaversary.

2. In ode to Shelbie and Geo, Geo’s best man made a countdown from 25 on some fun facts about Shelbie and Geo. I think the crowds favorite was “15: The amount of times Geo updates his facebook status… or the number of times Shelbie and Geo comment on eachother” :) LOVE!

3. Shelbie had custom purses made for her bridesmaids. Each one was different so suit the personality of each girl!

4. Geo had a grooms cake that was a Storm Trouper.

5. The first dance song. If you were there we have an inside joke to share. ;)

6. Shelbie and Geo opted for a first sight. So much fun! Its so great to see a grooms reaction the first time seeing his bride. Its such a private special moment! The first photo below is just after their first sight.

7. The bridal party got up and sang during the ceremony. Nothing traditional at all… a little Colbie Caillat and Jason Mraz song called Lucky.

8. They had their wedding at Villagio Inn and Spa in Yountville and hired Wedding Planner Dee Merz to pull every last detail together for them. Dee rocks, you really have no idea! They trusted Michael Holmes with the the event and floral design. They hired Anton Lorimer who I’ve been dying to work with for-ev-er to capture the video portion of the day. And to make sure everyone looked fab while being photographed Shelbie and Geo brought in the Dream Team for hair and makeup. Talk about a great group of wedding vendors!!

San Francisco Boudoir Photography | Irina Voronina

I just turned in my keys to 983 Lincoln St (the old studio) this afternoon. I thought it would be a bit sad but I was actually excited to see whats in store for Adeline & Grace Intimates for 2010. I got the first studio in April 2009 because the intimates business took off like I wouldn’t believe! I never imagined that boudoir photography would be such a big part of my business but it was such a natural transition and growth Im glad that I fell into it! ;)

Now that I have the new San Francisco Boudoir Photography Studio its twice the size with a hot pink dressing room and even more sets and props than before. I’m soooo excited to see what 2010 has to offer and started out the first few shoots in the studio with some tremendous talent. Through some very close connections actress and model Irina Voronina came in the studio to model for Adeline & Grace Intimates. You may recognize her from Reno 911, Maxim, Skyy Vodka ads and being the St. Pauli Girl 2008 Spokesmodel. Irina is hilarious!  I had so much fun hanging out with and photographing her it made yesterdays shoot a total breeze. Here’s one from the shoot yesterday. More to come soon!

San Francisco Baby Photography | Baby Isla

Its so cool to me to be able to watch my clients families grow. I shot Jenn and James wedding in March of 2007 and they just added a new addition to the family… little Isla Jane…

San Francisco Food Photography | Tastefull Bites Cupcakes

In a land far far away (San Francisco) and long ago (6 years!) I wanted to photograph food. Some of you may know the beginning story of it all, if not… here goes!

I went to photography school having NO IDEA what I wanted to do. The nice thing about where I went to school is the very first year is a mish mash of subjects to whet your pallet of the world of photography. I was a year into school and still had no idea what I wanted to do. Until 311… the commercial advertising class. Every week we had a different assignment: photograph an accessory, shoot a model, car, and then one week it was food.  My work was noticeably different then everyone else’s… in a good way. My best friend Kim told me after class that I had found what I should do… I should be a food photographer. And that was that. I was THAT mold-able!  That was the plan. I was going to be a food photographer.

Fast forward a few years: I was working for a food photographer in SF. It just wasnt working for me… food photography wasnt very sociable and it was a big production for just a few shots a day. Hours on ONE photo. While I LOVED food photography and appreciate everything that goes into a shot… I just needed something more. And thats how Adeline & Grace was started. But more on that in another post. ;)

So now I get my food photography “fix” at weddings. Guests look at me like Im crazy for photographing the food but I kindly explain that the couple will have no remembrance of eating it ;) That usually works!

So when Jennifer of Tastefull Bites (website coming soon, now that there are photos!) asked me to photograph some cupcakes for her new business I was happy to oblige! If you are my friend on facebook you know that I have a soft spot for cupcakes. Well anything sugar really but a huge soft spot for cupcakes. So of course I tasted all of these. YUM! Whats so different about Jenn’s mini cupcakes is they are savory and sweet and filled.

So if you are looking for something sweet for your holiday party just ask me for her contact info!

Jennifer & Keith

What a beautiful bride! Jen was glowing. Keith picked the venue, Glen Manor which was the site of their ceremony and reception. Guess what…. No rain. It was one of the few weddings this season without rain. In fact, it was hot. The couple chose to do a first sighting, which I am a big fan of. This allowed them to enjoy cocktail hour with friends and family. I know Jennifer from way back so it is always fun to shoot a wedding when you know a ton of the guests. Russell Morin was the caterer and I always look forward to their cheesecake lollipops. I don’t ever eat hors d’oeuvres at cocktail hour. Those are not for the vendors they are for the guests… and I am always busy with dancing and the party once the desert is passed, however every vendor I know will take one second to sneak a cheesecake lollipop. I think Russell Morin and their staff know that and always make sure we get one. The best man speech mad me cry… it was a good one. I hid behind my camera so no one saw…Jen and Keith both got a little teary. It was a great wedding. This couple was just fantastic, they exuded warmth. Jennifer really just wanted to get into jeans in party the rest of the night but she was so beautiful in her dress that I don’t think any of her friends and family would have let her. Of course, the night went so smoothly because of the great staff at Glen Manor but also because they had wedding planner Christine Clark with Planned to Perfection. Thanks to Christine the couples, their friends and their family enjoyed the night and all the little details.

Gillian & Nate

I arrived at the Boston Harbor Hotel and Gillian was the most cool, calm and collected bride I have seen in a long while, and why wouldn’t she be when everything was being taken care of by Sarah True with True Event. I actually left Gillian for a little while to head up stairs and get started on the fabulous details the couple and Sarah had picked to really bring out Gillian and Nate’s style. I think my favorite detail of the night was the Christmas tree which had these little skis with everyone’s name and table number on them. Then the large Vintage skis being used as the couple signage for their guests. I have to say that Sarah comes up with the coolest ideas for the seating cards and signage. Gillian was spectacular. Yes it did rain, but we managed to get outside for a few pictures in between sprinkles. Nate and the guys went first. They were very handsome and all definitely knew how to work the camera! It was an intimate wedding and the couples style really shined though. I think that is the hope for any couple on their wedding day. I had a great time and want to thank you for including me on your big day!

Melissa & Dalton

That was a fun wedding!
Melissa was gorgeous; the whole atmosphere was relaxed and fun. Both Jenna and I started out at the Hyatt for some getting ready photos. After hair and makeup the groomsmen and bridesmaids all headed off in a Newport Trolley to the church ceremony. Melissa arrived in style in a Bentley with her mom and dad. Yes, it was raining again but it didn’t matter!
At the Ceremony I got a small taste of the paparazzi that was invited to the wedding. I think every person in that church had a camera. I think some people even had two cameras! As soon as Melissa hit the end of the aisle all you could hear were the clicking of cameras and people trying to get a shot of Melissa walking down the aisle. It was intense. At the end of the ceremony we all had a good laugh about it!

I could tell this was a dancing bunch but I had no idea that Dalton’s grandmother would be introduced to Poison by BBD. For those of you that know the song, you can imagine how hilarious it was. This wedding party will take the prize for the best intro dances. We had some good ones that you can see below. These were not only planned ahead of time but were obviously rehearsed.

Belle Mer was beautiful. Taking pictures was so much fun with these two! The guests were having a fantastic time mingling, eating, and of course taking pictures.
One of the funniest moments at the reception was when the band played Jesse’s Girl and one of Dalton’s friends proceeded to dance…in a theatrical comedic way, with jazz hands and tip toes with Dalton’s Mother who got in on the theatrics.

This was a great day with a great couple. These two have big hearts and they wear them on their sleeves, and yes, people love them so much that Melissa and Dalton managed to convince 200 people from all over the United States and abroad to meet in RHODE ISLAND. Not a beautiful island somewhere in tropical weather, but Rhode Island in November. That’s how much people love these two. Thanks Sinclair for that…

Thank you all, Melissa, Dalton and camera crazy family for allowing me to be there! And get it on Film!!

Lea & Derek

Lea introduced me to 3rd beach in Middletown. The light was perfect! They had a great time giggling and posing for pictures. These two are as cute as could be together. Their wedding will be on February 20th 2010, however the place in still being determined! We can’t wait to show you the couple’s reception.

San Francisco Engagement Photographer | Marci & Nick

Ah baseball. Whenever I ask a couple what they like to do for fun there seems to be a common theme: baseball games, eating out and wine. You know what Marci and Nick said? Giants baseball and Costco. You have to love that ! Who doesnt love Costco, its like Target!

Marci and Nick… thanks for hanging in there. I know the traffic was horrible that day but I think these were absolutely worth it! (we had our session the week the bay bridge was closed. took us 2 + hours to get into the city! yikes!)
